We’re Raising Money for Mind in 2019 – Here’s Why

Posted on 13 February 2019

With January finally out of the way, we’re turning our attention towards the year’s charity efforts. In 2019, we’re raising money for mental health charity Mind – here’s why.

Did you know that 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem every year? Take a quick look around you: though nobody wants to be a statistic, that number could easily include your colleague, the client who just dropped by, the recently hired apprentice, or even you.

Although the figures are startling high (and increasing year-on-year), there’s some good news to be found. Today, it’s much easier to find help and support, and conversations around mental health are far more common.

One of the fantastic organisations pushing for this mental health revolution is Mind, a charity dedicated to supporting and gaining respect for individuals facing challenges with their mental health. For seventy years, Mind has been running public campaigns, influencing decision-makers, and delivering services across England and Wales – and their dedication is truly making a difference.

Millions of lives have already been touched, with 2018 seeing almost 100,000 calls to Mind’s three hotlines being answered, crucial information accessed 12 million times, and nearly 600,000 employees reached through their workplace wellbeing programmes.

Of course, to deliver all this amazing work, Mind needs support of its own. Aside from 156 charity shops across the country, they also rely on donations and on people championing their cause.

At Identity Experts, we’ve recently put our employees’ mental health front and centre, introducing initiatives to support our team through tough times. It should come as no surprise, then, that the team chose Mind for 2019’s official charity.

Seeing as we love a challenge, we’ve set ourselves the target of raising £10,000 in 2019. To reach this amount, we’ll be taking part in lots of crazy fundraising over the next few months – and we’d love to have your support along the way!

Our CEO David Murrell is taking the lead, bravely volunteering to cycle the 63 miles from Manchester to Blackpool, with the team following suit with their own fundraising efforts – stay tuned!

If you’d like to show your support for David’s cycling endeavours, feel free to head to our Wonderful page, keep an eye on social media for updates on our journey to £10,000, and find out more about Mind here.
